Human skull found in Florida thrift store on Halloween
This was a Halloween decoration that was too realistic.
Investigators with a sheriff’s department in Florida were called to a thrift shop Saturday when a shopper who happened to be an anthropologist noticed a human skull for sale in the Halloween section.
A news release from the Lee County, Florida Sheriff’s Office say detectives went to the store and recovered the skull. The store’s owner told detectives the skull was from a storage unit that had been purchased years earlier.
The skull has been turned over to a medical examiner for further testing. However, the sheriff’s office says the case is not suspicious and no charges have been filed.
CBS News reports that Florida law prohibits the sale of “any human organ or tissue for valuable consideration.” Skulls are among the items prohibited, CBS News reports.
