Human remains found on Alabama interstate identified as Texas man missing since 2022

Human remains found off Interstate 20 in east Alabama have been identified as man reported missing from Texas nearly three years ago.

The remains were discovered Sunday, June 22, in a wooded area off I-20 near mile marker 194 in Cleburne County.

Evidence at the scene led investigators to believe the remains were those of Peter Alexander Robinson.

Robinson was listed as a missing person out of Austin in December 2022, sheriff’s officials said. His vehicle was towed from the same area on I-20 on Jan. 12, 2023.

The remains were sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for identification and examination.

Investigators used dental records and DNA to positively identify Robinson.

Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday that it is believed Robinson was experiencing a mental health crisis at the time of his disappearance.

“We want to take this moment to remind everyone that mental health struggles are real and can affect anyone,” said Sheriff Jon Daniel. “If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. Help is available.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Peter Alexander Robinson during this incredibly difficult time,” Daniel said. “We extend our deepest condolences as they grieve this heartbreaking loss.”
