Hugh Freeze with injury updates on Faulk, Keys, McLeod, others after Auburnâs second scrimmage
Auburn has been dealing with injuries throughout fall camp, especially within the wide receiver and linebacker groups. After Auburn’s second preseason scrimmage, head coach Hugh Freeze gave an update on who was able to play.
The most notable recent additions to the injury report are Keldric Faulk and Jalen McLeod. Faulk, the hyped freshman defensive end, was seen wearing the yellow non-contact uniform during Thursday’s practice. McLeod was not in the non-contact jersey, but did seem to join the group later into Thursday’s practice with a bit of a limp and a wrapped right ankle.
“He tried, but he’s not ready,” Freeze said of Faulk attempting to play.
Freeze did not specify exactly what injury either are dealing with.
Linebacker Austin Keys (shoulder) continued to be held out as he had been throughout the week in practice.
Koy Moore (ankle) and Malcolm Johnson Jr. (shoulder) did not play in the scrimmage, though neither comes as much of a surprise as they have been in non-contact uniforms over the last few days of practice and Moore specifically has hardly participated at all in fall camp.
The more notable new name on the injury report of the wide receiver group is Cincinnati transfer Nick Mardner. Freeze did not state what injury he was dealing with, but Mardner has been seen practicing earlier this week.
“We’re without some guys we’ve been counting on for sure,” Freeze said.
Wide receiver Camden Brown who had been dealing with “bad luck” throughout fall camp, Freeze said, was able to play in the scrimmage. He has practiced each of the last few days leading up to Saturday.
