HS volleyball update: Bob Jones continues hot play, 21 straight wins
Bob Jones continued its torrid play with seven more wins last week, including earning the Tournament of Champions title at Supreme Courts in Guntersville.
The undefeated Class 7A No. 1 Patriots have started the season with 21 straight wins and are nationally ranked at No. 23 in the USA Today HSS/AVCA rankings.

Bob Jones swept all seven opponents last week with a regular season win against Collierville (Tenn.) and tournament pool play wins over Cullman, Alexandria and Franklin (Tenn.) and beating Collierville (Tenn.), Nolensville (Tenn.) and Enterprise for the championship.
Meg Jarrett led the defense with 64 digs and a 2.50 serve-receive rating, adding 5 aces and 16 assists while Riley Lovell set up the hitters with 101 assists, adding 5 aces, 6 kills and 33 digs.
Kennedy Vaughn had 66 kills, 2 aces, 9 blocks and 18 digs while Eliza Tyrrell had 39 kills, 19 blocks and 8 digs and Rachel Mecklenburg had 38 kills, 64 assists, 8 blocks and 38 digs.

Second-ranked McGill-Toolen (16-4) was 7-1 last week, including winning the Catholic Cup tournament. The Dirty Dozen beat Foley, Gulf Breeze (Fla.), Pensacola Catholic (Fla.), St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) Blessed Trinity (Ga.), Mt. Carmel (La.) and St. Pius X (Ga.) and lost to Archbishop Hannan (La.).
Laura Boykin had 8 kills, 4 aces, 182 assists, 30 digs and 7 blocks, Emma Moore had 66 kills, 3 aces, 10 digs and 14 blocks and Juliet Galla had 17 aces, a 2.4 passer rating, 17 assists and 83 digs.

Kenzie Richards had 7 kills against Guntersville and hit .636 for that match while Kendyl Mitchell had 20 kills and 26 digs against Auburn. Olivia Guenster had 85 digs for the tournament and Addison Bentley had 40 assists and Madi Lopez had 51 assists.
Fourth-ranked Thompson (15-4) was 6-2 with wins over Spain Park, DAR, Sipsey Valley, Mortimer Jordan, Florence and Hazel Green and losses to Enterprise and Jefferson (Ga.).
Chloe Middlestat had 75 kills with a .351 hitting percentage, 15 blocks and 35 digs and Kenzly Foote had 83 digs, 13 kills and 10 aces
Fifth-ranked Vestavia Hills (8-9) was 2-4 with a regular season win over Auburn and loss to Briarwood and a tournament win over Fort Payne with losses to Arab, Oakland (Tenn.) and

Millie Burgess had 55 kills and 9 for the week while Jill Davis had 14 kills on 25 swings with a .440 hitting percentage and Audrey Vielguth had 87 digs and 31 assists.
Seventh-ranked Oak Mountain (12-5) was 7-1 with regular season wins over Homewood and Chelsea tournament wins against DAR, Gardendale, Shades Valley, Westminster Christian and Gulf Shores and a loss to Jefferson (Ga.).

Ninth-ranked Fairhope (24-2) won eight matches, including winning the title of its Back to School Bash. The Pirates beat Baldwin County, Faith Academy and St. Michael in regular season play then beat Faith Academy, Davidson, Daphne, Jackson Academy (Miss.) and Madison Central (Miss.) for the tournament title.

No. 10 Enterprise (16-4) was 7-1 with regular season wins over Dothan and Thompson and finishing runnerup at the Tournament of Champions in Guntersville, beating Lawrence County, Homewood, Nolensville (Tenn.), Hoover and St. Paul’s before losing to Bob Jones in the title match.

Blakeley Robbins had 11 kills, 109 assists and 12 aces, Haley Robinson had 28 kills and 5 blocks, Maysie Douglas had 27 kills, Georgia McInnis had 22 kills, Grier Broughton had 22 kills and Misty Kate Smith had 17 kills and 2 aces.
Second-ranked Mountain Brook (11-3) beat Pell City as Mae Mae Beatty had 9 kills, an ace, a block and 11 digs, Annie Lacey had 7 kills and Mae Mae Lacey had 7 kills and a block.
Third-ranked Spanish Fort (22-3) won nine matches last week, including winning the Mayor’s Cup title in Montgomery. The Toros beat Robertsdale and Bayside in regular season play then downed
St. James, Pelham, Brewbaker Tech, Carver-Montgomery, Trinity, Park Crossing and Montgomery Academy in the tournament.

The Patriots beat Providence Christian, Alabama Christian, St. Luke’s and Montgomery Catholic in Mayor’s Cup play and lost to Bayside and Spanish Fort to tie for third place in the Gold Bracket.

Maddie Smith had 95 assists, 4 blocks, 5 kills and 17 digs at the tournament while Anna Moore had 56 kills, 5 blocks and 10 digs and Holland Williams had 32 kills and 11 blocks.
Third-ranked Good Hope (20-3) won nine matches last week, including winning the Elkmont Invitational. The Raiders beat Vinemont, Danville, Decatur Heritage and Lindsay Lane in regular season play then downed Colbert Heights, Athens Bible, West Limestone, Elkmont and Ardmore in the tournament.
Ivey Maddox had 15 aces, 82 kills and 65 digs, surpassing 1,000 career digs during the Danville victory while Charly Johnson had 10 aces and 42 kills and Campbell Koch had 7 aces and 179 assists.
Fourth-ranked DAR (13-7) was 3-2 with wins over Shades Valley, Gardendale and Westminster Christian and losses to Oak Mountain and Thompson.
Chloe Walker had 34 assists, 38, digs and 28 kills with a .280 hitting percentage, Emily Reeves had 40 kills, 43 digs and a 2.08 serve-receive percentage and Tana Osborne had 65 digs, surpassing 1,200 for her career, with 96 percent serving.
Fifth-ranked Madison County (21-7) was 8-1 with regular season wins over Lincoln County (Tenn,), Randolph and Whitesburg Christian and a loss to Hazel Green. The Tigers won the West Point Tournament, beating Winston County, Hatton, West Point, Addison and Boaz.
Shelby Hill was named tournament MVP with 47 kills: 44 digs and 10 blocks for the week while Addy Gustafson had 102 assists, 39 digs and 9 blocks, Ava Gustafson had 15 aces, 37 kills and 34 blocks, Laylah Sanders had 7 aces, 24 kills, 44 digs and 12 blocks and Carleigh Lanford had 5 aces, 26 kills and 32 digs.
Sixth-ranked Central-Florence (13-4) swept three matches, beating Wilson, Deshler and Lexington.

Second-ranked Mobile Christian (15-2) was 5-2 with regular season wins against Daphne, Baker and Cottage Hill and Fairhope Tournament wins over Central (Fla.), Davidson and Faith Academy and losses to Mississippi teams Jackson Academy and Madison Central. The Leopards won the Silver Bracket title.
Haley Eldridge had 11 aces, 41 digs and 70 assists, Melaina Haines had 16 aces, 80 kills, 48 digs and 78 assists and Ella Manning had 8 aces, 37 kills and 11 blocks.
Third-ranked Prattville Christian (8-8) was 3-5 with regular season wins over Elmore County and Prattville and a loss to LAMP. The Panthers beat Wetumpka in the Mayor’s Cup Tournament and lost to LAMP, Montgomery Catholic, Briarwood and St. Luke’s.
