McGill-Toolen was able to bring home the trophy last year, as they won the 7A state title 3-1 against Bob Jones. Notably, McGill-Toolen won nine out of 10 sets at the state tournament, so they were clearly the best team in Alabama. They will try to continue their dominance this season, as they face off against Spain Park in their season opener on Thursday night.

Bob Jones was equally dominant in their first two playoff games, sweeping Auburn and Hoover to reach the championship match. Since they were defeated in the final, Bob Jones is seeking to avenge their loss this season.

Bob Jones is scheduled to play multiple games on Thursday afternoon. The team will play their season opener against Grissom, and they will immediately play a second match against Huntsville.
