As temperatures continue to climb well into the 90s in the coming weeks, many Birmingham residents may be wondering how to keep their bills low while staying cool.

According to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the average residential electricity rate in Birmingham is approximately 11.57 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh). This is around 1.5% higher than the Alabama average rate of 11.4 cents/kWh but is 2.61% lower than the national average rate of 11.88 cents/kWh.
