While their humans enjoy the fun and festivities, Independence Day and the fireworks it brings with it can bring danger and anxiety for the common household pet. In fact, more dogs go missing on the 4th of July than any other day of the year according to the American Kennel Club.

Dr. Harmony Glenn of the Double Springs Veterinary Clinic offered some advice to keep your furry friend happy and healthy during the holiday.

· Stay with your pets at home to help keep them calm

· Keep extra water on hand as nervous pets tend to drink more

· Make sure pets are wearing ID tags
