How much will Auburn pay Texas A&M in field rush fine?

Auburn football earned a thrilling win Saturday night, beating Texas A&M in quadruple overtime and eliciting scenes of madness after the game.

Those scenes were brought on by Auburn’s fans rushing the field as the game ended, the first time Auburn fans had done so since 2019. The celebration will cost Auburn, though, as the school will have to pay a $100,000 fine for the field rush, a check it will have to send Texas A&M under the SEC’s 2023 update to its competition area entry policy.

It was one of two field storms in the Southeastern Conference on Saturday, as Oklahoma fans rushed the field after beating No. 7 Alabama 24-3.

Currently, a first offense costs $100,000, a second $250,000 and all subsequent violations go for $500,000. Saturday was Auburn’s first offense since the policy was updated in 2023.

Multiple Auburn players talked about the field rush after the game, all seeming to enjoy the experience.

“Before you know it, I looked around and we’re getting swarmed,” freshman wide receiver Cam Coleman said after the game. “I see Dre getting tossed up in the air and I’m like ‘Man this is crazy. This is college right here.’”

The game against Texas A&M was Auburn’s final home game of the year, but the Tigers will close the regular season next Saturday in Tuscaloosa against Alabama.
