How much did Auburn athletics make and spend in Fiscal Year 2024?
Auburn athletics reported a $2.8 million net surplus for fiscal year 2024, down slightly from the previous year’s total, according to its NCAA revenues and expenses report, obtained by AL.com by an open record request.
Auburn reported $194,360,814 in revenue for the fiscal year, which ran from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. The department spent $191,558,771.
Both numbers are down slightly from FY 2023, where the department reported a similar, but slightly higher net surplus of $3.2 million. Despite Auburn continuing to stay in the green, it’s the third year in a row the overall surplus has decreased, bringing in a $22.9 million surplus during the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
The Auburn athletics department reported $195,301,922 in revenue in FY 2023. The Tigers spent $192,030,692 on department-wide operating expenses in FY 2023.
Auburn football still leads the financial charge for the athletics department. The program reported $121.1 million in revenue and $60.8 in expenses in FY 2024, creating a $60.3 million surplus.
Auburn men’s basketball brought in $21 million in FY 2024 and spent $15.7 million, creating a surplus of $5.3 million.
The athletic department’s biggest expense was support staff and administration compensation, costing $37 million in FY 2024.
Media rights were Auburn’s largest source of revenue in FY 2024, earning $48.3 million. Ticket sales were the third-largest source of revenue, but brought in $35.5 million, up from $32.3 million in 2023.
Institutional support revenue was way down in FY 2024, bringing in just $10.1 million compared to $25 million in FY 2023. However, the FY 2023 total was unusually high, bringing in just $9.7 million in FY 2022.
