How many tornadoes have hit Alabama in past few days?
Alabama has been hit with multiple rounds of severe weather over the past few days.
The National Weather Service will be out and about today in central and south Alabama to look at storm damage left by those storms and determine if it was caused by tornadoes or straight-line winds.
So far three tornadoes have been confirmed from a round of severe weather on Friday.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville identified the tracks of an EF-2 tornado in Morgan County near Hartselle, which has been blamed for one death, an EF-2 in Lauderdale County near Plantation Springs and an EF-1 in Morgan County near Lacys Spring.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham plans to look at several areas of damage today. One is near Bear Creek in Marion County, which was hit by severe storms on Friday.
Another team will look at damage in parts of Elmore, Tallapoosa and Macon counties. Those three areas were hit by severe storms overnight when a tornado-warned storm moved through.
The weather service noted that the survey of the most recent storms may be especially difficult because of heavy rain and high water from those same storms. Flash flood warnings were issued this morning for some of those same areas.
The National Weather Service in Mobile also said it planned to survey damage today in Clarke and Wilcox counties, which were under tornado warnings on Sunday.
The two weather service offices said more details on the storm surveys should be released later today.
More strong to severe storms will be possible over the next two days in parts of south Alabama.
