How Jalen Milroe, other Alabama players, performed in Senior Bowl

Former Alabama football quarterback Jalen Milroe said he got what he wanted out of his Senior Bowl experience in Mobile.

“For sure,” Milroe told reporters after the game Saturday. “I was able to learn, I was able to grow. That was my mission going into this week, was to learn and grow, and I was able to do that.”

As he prepares for the 2025 NFL Draft after declaring following two seasons as the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback, reviews of Milroe were mixed throughout Senior Bowl week. In the game itself, he started the second half for the American team.

Milroe finished with three completions on five passes for 21 yards. He looked inconsistent as a passer, with one ugly third down incompletion intended for Arian Smith making the rounds on social media.

He was also sacked three times throughout the game, losing 22 yards, though he also ran for 11 yards on three rushing attempts. The American team won the game, beating the National squad 22-19.

“I think early on, I learned a new system,” Milroe said, when asked what he took away from the experience in Mobile. “Getting inclined to how to learn, how to grow each and every day that you have is baby steps. And so that’s the best part about this journey, coming into the (Senior Bowl), is having a firsthand experience of being a part of a new offense, being able to be vocal as well, and presenting the plays. And so it’s definitely a lot of takeaways that I’m able to have moving forward in my career.”

Milroe said that between the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine, he’ll be training in California with former NFL quarterback Jordan Palmer.

Alabama had three other former players participating in the game alongside Milroe on the American team. Tight end CJ Dippre finished the game with two catches for 30 yards, including a 25-yard pass from former Memphis QB Seth Henigan in the fourth quarter.

Former Crimson Tide punter James Burnip saw the field twice for the American team, hitting two punts for 86 yards. His long for the game was 48 yards.

Defensive lineman Tim Smith finished with two total tackles, one of them solo. He was credited with half a tackle for loss on a fourth-down stop for former Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon.

Next up for Alabama’s draft prospects is the NFL Combine, scheduled to begin Feb. 27 in Indianapolis.
