How hot will it feel today in Alabama?
Most of Alabama will find itself under a heat advisory on Sunday as temperatures and humidity levels combine to make it feel especially oppressive by this afternoon.
Air temperatures are forecast to rise into the 90s — mid-90s for some — by this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Add in high humidity levels and the heat index, or “feels like” temperature, could reach as high as 110 degrees in parts of the state today.
The only spots not under a heat advisory are five counties in the southeast corner of the state:
There will be a chance for scattered rain and storms again today.
However, on Monday some drier air will work its way into parts of north and central Alabama, providing a brief reprieve even though it will still be very warm outside. Rain chances look to be higher on Monday for south Alabama, as well as humidity levels, and more heat advisories may be coming for those areas.
Then the furnace cranks up again statewide for the rest of this week, with high temperatures again expected to reach the mid- to upper 90s and high humidity levels.
Look for more heat advisories to come later this week for parts of the state, including on the Fourth of July holiday.
Here’s a look at today’s heat advisories:
