How did Jabari Smith Jr. make LeBron James feel old?

Houston Rockets rookie Jabari Smith Jr. crossed paths on an NBA court with LeBron James for the first time on Monday night, and the former Auburn standout had a blast from the past for the 18-time All-Star.

“You played against my dad your first NBA game ever,” Smith told James on the court before the Rockets’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

James made his NBA debut on Oct. 29, 2003, with 25 points, six rebounds and nine assists in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 106-92 loss to the Sacramento Kings.

Jabari Smith Sr. played in 31 games as a backup center for the Kings in the 2003-04 season, although he didn’t get off the bench in James’ debut.

At that time, Smith’s son was a 5-month-old.

Now Jabari Smith Jr. is a 19-year-old and James is 38.

“You feel old, don’t you?” Smith asked James after sharing his bit of family history.
