How cold will it get tonight?

One of the chilliest mornings of the fall greeted many Alabamians on Saturday, with several locations hitting the freezing point overnight.

But the cold will start getting some pushback today as a warming trend gets going.

Temperatures overnight were mostly in the 30s across the state. Of the larger areas, one of the coldest was Haleyville with 29 degrees. And Mobile even dropped into the 30s with a low of 38 degrees.

Here is a look at some overnight low temperatures (but not the official lows) as of 6 a.m. Saturday from the National Weather Service:

* Demopolis: 31 degrees

* Dothan: 39 degrees

* Eufaula: 35 degrees

* Evergreen: 33 degrees

* Haleyville: 29 degrees

* Huntsville: 34 degrees

* Mobile 38 degrees

* Montgomery: 34 degrees

* Muscle Shoals: 32 degrees

* Ozark: 37 degrees

* Troy: 31 degrees

* Tuscaloosa: 32 degrees

Temperatures are still expected to be on the cool side today, with highs mostly in the 50s and 60s. Here are Saturday’s forecast high temperatures:

Tonight will be another cold one, with lows expected to fall back into the 30s in much of north and central Alabama. South Alabama could stay in the 40s. (See tonight’s low temperature forecast at the top of this post.)

But it isn’t expected to be quite as cold as the previous night.

Temperatures will warm up more on Sunday, with highs expected to climb into the mid-60s to low 70s across the state:

What about next week? There are some signs that colder temperatures will return to end the month.

The six- to 10-day temperature outlook from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center shows higher probabilities of below-average temperatures from Nov. 28-Dec. 2. The probabilities climb as you head northward in the state:
