Hot chicken franchise looking to open several Alabama locations

A rapidly-growing chicken franchise has set its sights on several Southern states, including Alabama.

Franchising.com is reporting that Dave’s Hot Chicken has a nine-unit development deal to build several restaurants in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

Founded in 2017 in Los Angeles, the franchise’s systemwide sales have increased 156% over the past year, the fastest pace of any chain nationwide. The company has locations in 27 states, and cities such as San Diego, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Detroit and Portland.

“In each new market we enter, we are met with a warm and embracing reception from the community. Having the chance to introduce our brand to more guests is a significant privilege,” partner Tony Moyer said. “Choosing our first location and then launching subsequent openings in these markets is a venture we eagerly look forward to.”

A publicist said the first locations are expected to open in the Birmingham and Montgomery areas in the second half of 2024.

Founded by Arman Oganesyan and classically trained chef Dave Kopushyan, along with brothers, Tommy, and Gary Rubenyan, Dave’s Hot Chicken initially opened as a parking lot pop-up.

The chain offers hot chicken tenders and sliders, with seven levels of heat ranging from “No Spice” to “Reaper,” along with Kale Slaw, Mac & Cheese and crispy Fries or Cheese Fries.
