Hoover Chick-fil-A mourns 3 workers killed in crash: âOur hearts may never be healedâ
Three Chick-fil-A employees killed in a weekend crash will be remembered tonight at a candlelight vigil outside the Hoover restaurant where they worked.
Those killed were Josiah Louis Phillips, 22, of Birmingham; Anna Catherine Meyers, 22, of Hoover; and Ashley Nicole Michelle Wyatt, 23, of McCalla.
“Although our hearts may never be healed, we come together now to pray, grieve, rejoice and remember,’’ Chick-fil-A at The Grove said in a Facebook post announcing the event.
The crash happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday in the 2800 block of McClendon Chapel Road near Blackie Curren Road in western Jefferson County.
Authorities said Phillips was the driver of a Honda Civic that lost control in a curve and came to a rest down a ravine.
All three victims were pronounced dead on the scene at 10:30 p.m. Another male was taken to UAB Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is conducting the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The vigil will be held from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. outside the restaurant at 5658 Grove Boulevard in Hoover. The candlelight portion will be at 8:30 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a photo or memento of those killed. There will also be boxes for cards and donations for the families of the victims.
Chaplains will also be available for prayer and counseling.
