Jonah Winston ran, passed and even caught a few balls, but Hoover still needed a successful extra point in the end as the Bucs won in overtime 27-26 over Thompson in Friday’s Class 7A, Region 3 title showdown at Warrior Stadium.

“We felt like we were going to be able to do some things down there, we only had 10 yards,” Hoover coach Chip English said. “We knew, with the ball in his (Winston) hands, we had an opportunity. Mac (Beason) played lights out all night, but we knew it was going to be a team effort and it was going to take both of those guys back there.”
