A homicide investigation is underway in Montgomery after a man was shot dead Tuesday night, police said.

Montgomery police and fire medics responded to the 1500 block of Mt. Meigs Road around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, said Maj. Saba Coleman.

The victim, only publicly identified as an adult male, sustained a fatal gunshot wound, Coleman said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further information was not released by police, who cited the ongoing investigation.
