Hollis Davidson III, 3-star class of 2025 tight end, decommits from Auburn

Former Auburn pledge Hollis Davidson III, a three-star tight end recruit in the class of 2025, announced he is de-committing from Auburn with a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Davidson had originally committed to Auburn in February, just a few days after he attended Auburn’s Junior Day.

But since his decision to pick Auburn, Davidson has taken an unofficial visit to Florida State and received an offer from Texas, according to his recruiting page on 247Sports.

The Georgia native was the second tight end in Auburn’s 2025 class along with Ryan Ghea who committed to Auburn in November.

Auburn will exhaust the eligibility of Rivaldo Fairweather — the team’s leading pass catcher in 2023 — Luke Deal and Brandon Frazier after the 2024 season. The only tight ends currently on set to be on Auburn’s roster in the fall of 2025 are Micah Riley and Maryland transfer Rico Walker. Walker’s father Ricardo played defensive line for Auburn in the mid-1990s.

After Davidson’s de-commitment, Auburn’s 2025 class now has nine commitments led by four-star defensive tackle Malik Autry, currently ranked as the No. 34 overall player in the class by 247Sports. Auburn’s 2025 class is currently ranked as the No. 10 group overall by 247Sports.
