‘Hissing, booing, yelling and screaming’: Adults argue over Fairhope library books
Fairhope residents once again packed the city council chamber Monday night to debate whether or not certain library books are suitable for children under 18 to read and should be moved to the adult section of the library.
About 75 people attended the meeting — 28 of whom spoke. In all, 17 people spoke in favor of moving books to adult-only sections, and 11 spoke in favor of keeping the library as-is. The heated debate ping-ponged back and forth between the groups.
