Hints of spring in the air for Alabama over the next week: Will warm weather bring storms?
A hint of spring will be in the air across Alabama over the next week.
The National Weather Service on Wednesday morning said warmer temperatures are in store for the state over the next week, and it could even begin to feel a little spring-like in some areas with a nice southerly breeze.
However, that warmer weather comes with a price — NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has added a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather for southeast Alabama for Friday as the next weather system moves through the state.
A Level 1 risk means that isolated severe storms will be possible.

The rest of the state is expected to get some rain, maybe up to an inch or more in some areas, according to the weather service, on Thursday and Friday

High temperatures today are forecast to reach the low 70s in south Alabama. Highs in the 60s are expected over the rest of south Alabama and central Alabama, and north Alabama is even expected to make it to the 60s except for the northeast part of the region. (The temperature forecast for Wednesday is at the top of this post.)
Low temperatures tonight will be much milder, with only northeast Alabama expected to fall back into the 30s. The rest of the state will have low temperatures in the 40s and 50s for a change.

Temperatures are expected to remain very mild through the weekend and into next week.
Will the warmer weather last beyond next week? There are indications that it will. The eight- to 14-day temperature outlook from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center includes a decent (40 to 60 percent) probability that Alabama will have above-average temperatures through the first week of February.:
