Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa tops McAdory to finish 10-0
Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa wrapped up its second straight unbeaten regular season – and fifth overall since the program started in 1981 – with a 48-21 win over McAdory on Friday night at Roy Johnson Jr. Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
The Patriots finished 11-1 last season, falling in the second round of the playoffs to eventual champion Saraland.
Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa (10-0, 7-0 in Class 6A, Region 4 and ranked No. 3) led 35-7 at the half and carried a 42-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
Junior quarterback Bryson Kimbrough scored on runs of 69 and 1 yards and hit Kahden Smith with a 32-yard touchdown pass in the win. Kimbrough finished with 82 yards on 7 carries. He completed 4-of-7 passes for 65 yards.
Decorrion Thomas ran the ball twice – both for touchdowns, of 69 and 15 yards. Jay Brown scored on a 13-yard run and Christian Richey had a 27-yard TD run. Hudson Hall hit all six of his extra-point tries.
Hillcrest had 322 yards rushing on 30 carries and held the Yellow Jackets to 75 on 28 attempts.
McAdory’s Jacob Clopton completed 20-of-32 passes for 216 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Clopton also had 55 yards on the ground on 10 carries. Sean Tolbert caught 7 passes for 95 yards for McAdory (5-4, 4-3).
McAdory closes out the regular season on Thursday at Calera.
