Some of the biggest road projects in the state are coming to coastal Alabama next year. Here’s where they stand.

1. Mobile River Bridge/I-10 Replacement project

Design work is currently underway for the $2.7 billion project to replace the Interstate 10 Bayway and the Mobile River Bridge. Some preliminary engineering work is being done as well.

A representative for the Alabama Department of Transportation says that there’s no clear timeline on when construction is set to start, though Sarah Sislak with the Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Organization says construction is expected to start next summer.
