Here are the most ‘Christmassy’ towns in Alabama: Do you agree?

If you want to soak up Christmas charm in Alabama this year, head to Foley, about 12 miles north of Gulf Shores in Baldwin County.

That’s the word from Mixbook, a California company that helps people to create custom photo books, card and calendars. To celebrate the holiday season, Mixbook polled 3,000 families, asking them to pinpoint towns with the strongest Christmas vibes.

Alabama took four spots in the top 75, according to a press release, but failed to rank among the top 10 most “Christmassy” towns. Foley came in at No. 13 on the list, followed by Andalusia at No. 25, Theodore at No. 28 and Wicksburg at No. 70.

Alabama people may beg to differ, especially those who tout the annual holiday festivities in Cullman, Fairhope, Gadsden, Demopolis, Prattville and other cities throughout the state.

Admitted, Alabama doesn’t typically get an abundance of snow, creating a traditional winter wonderland. But consider that Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, which averages a mere 6 inches of snow per year, tops the Mixbook list, and the North Pole — Santa’s majorly snowy hometown! — is rated at No. 10.

The ability to build a snowman seems to be just one factor in the poll, which resulted in the following top 10:

  1. Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
  2. Durango, Colorado.
  3. Lake Placid, New York.
  4. Stowe, Vermont.
  5. Alexandria, Virginia.
  6. Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
  7. Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
  8. Holland, Michigan.
  9. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
  10. North Pole, Alaska.

Here’s what Mixbook had to say about the Alabama cities that did make the list:

What you do think, Alabama folks? Did Mixbook get it right or is its list of “Christmassy” towns an epic fail? Birmingham is no slouch when it comes to Christmas events, as far as we’re concerned, and the residents of Huntsville are no Grinches.
