The mayor makes $152,750 a year. That’s more than double what the average worker in the Huntsville metro area makes a year ($69,235) according to the most recent data from the Alabama Department of Labor, but among city employees, Battle doesn’t even make the top 13.

Those employed by the city have the potential to make two to three times the average salary of workers in the metro depending on their position, according to the city of Huntsville salary schedules.

Municipal judges and city administrators are five of the top seven highest paid city employees. When combined, the 13 highest annual city employees’ salaries total more than $2.3 million.
