The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation into a decomposed body found in a freezer at a home near Headland, according to two television news reports.

Authorities were called to the home at 296 Bradford Drive late Sunday morning, Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship told WTVY.

The sex of the badly decomposed body, found in a freezer, could not be immediately determined, Blankenship told WTVY.

Blankenship told WDHN that investigators will await an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The sheriff told AL.com and other news media he would provide more information later.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Henry County Sheriff’s Department at 334)-585-3131.
