Help sought with burial of 30-year-old man killed in Tuscaloosa County quadruple shooting

A GoFundMe has been started to help with the burial of a 30-year-old man killed in a Tuscaloosa quadruple shooting.

Donavin Ryans was shot to death May 5 at a small party. A suspect has been charged with capital murder.

Friends of Ryans’ mother – Eunice Prince – launched the GoFundMe.

“This is a difficult time, and we are trying to help take as much stress off of her as possible’’ the GoFundMe reads. “No parent should ever have to bury their child, especially at a young age.”

Donations to the GoFundMe can be made here.

The shooting happened about 1 a.m. that Sunday in the 1300 block of 58th Street East, south of Tuscaloosa. There was a small party taking place at the residence.

Authorities said 22-year-old Gredrick Deontae Agnew, of Greensboro, was asked to leave. Agnew reportedly began firing shots through an open door from the outside to the inside, wounding four people.

Ryans was pronounced dead. The other three victims survived.

Agnew fled the scene but was taken into custody later in the day in Marengo County.

Court records show Agnew is already awaiting trial on a 2021 indictment for seven counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied building or vehicle. In those cases, which happened in 2020, records state Agnew into at least one residence and at least one car.

There are seven victims listed in that indictment. Agnew is set to go to trial in Hale County in that case August.
