A Heflin man is dead after a vehicle struck and killed him on Cleburne County Road 19, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Jimmy L. Mullally, 49, was lying in the road when the 2012 Toyota Tacoma hit and killed him, authorities said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash occurred about five miles southeast of Heflin, a city located east of Birmingham near the Georgia border.

It is currently unknown why Mullally was in the road at the time of the accident. The case is currently under investigation by ALEA.
