Hot and humid conditions will be the story across south Alabama on Monday, while places in north and north-central Alabama could get a brief break thanks to lower dew points.

Heat advisories will be in effect for the southern half of the state today. The National Weather Service said high temperatures will be in the mid-90s, and when those are combined with humidity levels will make it feel like 110 degrees or hotter this afternoon.

Look for heat levels to rise some statewide starting on Tuesday and through the end of the holiday week, with the latter part of the week looking like the hottest.

The forecast for the Fourth of July, on Thursday, will likely include heat advisories for parts of the state. High temperatures statewide will again be well into the 90s with high dew points.

There will be chances for scattered rain and storms each day, and occasionally those storms could hit severe limits.

Isolated severe storms will be possible today in the soupy air in southeast Alabama. The Storm Prediction Center has a Level 1 out of 5 risk for storms there today.

* Heat advisory from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m Monday for Tallapoosa, Dallas, Autauga, Lowndes, Elmore, Montgomery, Macon, Bullock, Lee, Russell, Pike and Barbour counties.
