Heat advisories continue for Alabama on Saturday
More relentless August heat is in the forecast for Alabama on Saturday, and heat advisories will be in effect.
The National Weather Service is forecasting air temperatures to climb into the 90s across a large part of the state today. North and parts of north-central Alabama will be in the lower 90s, but south and especially southwest Alabama will reach the upper 90s.

Those temperatures, combined with high humidity levels, could send the heat index, or “feels like” temperature, as high as 112 degrees by this afternoon, according to forecasters.
The weather service said that heat index values over 105 degrees may cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke if outside for a prolonged period of time.
Today’s heat advisories affect mainly western Alabama.
There could some rain and storms to help mitigate the heat, but it’s unclear when they will arrive.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center is forecasting a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather for much of Alabama today, which means that isolated severe storms will be possible. The best chance for storms may not arrive until later today or tonight.
The strongest storms could have damaging winds and heavy rain.
