Hatton football coach steps down after nine seasons
Hatton head football coach Denton Bowling will step down from his position after nine seasons of leading the program, he announced on social media Friday evening.
“Along with the successes on the field, it is what we were able to accomplish off the field for which I am most proud,” he wrote. “The young men who bought into out message of ‘the process’, have moved on and taken the work ethic they learned from participating in football at HHS, and have been able to use those lessons in the real world.
“The young men who are still part of this program will one day do the same and will become great husbands, fathers, and employees.”
This season saw Hatton go 6-5 overall and 5-3 in Class 4A, Region 7 play after a jump from 2A to 4A; the Hornets fell to Good Hope in the first round of the playoffs.
Hatton went 47-47 during the nine seasons under Bowling, which included five straight playoff appearances.
Bowling also served as the head softball coach at Hatton, leading the program to Class 2A state titles in 2017 and 2023. He has also served as the head baseball coach.
