Hank Williams Jr. has announced a new tour for 2024 and will kick off the trek with a spring concert in Birmingham.

Williams, a rowdy country and Southern rock star, is set to perform on April 5 at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC, with opening act Whiskey Myers. Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m. CT via Ticketmaster, after a round of pre-sales on Dec. 6-7.

Prices are $45, $65, $85, $125, $250 and $350, plus service charges, according to promoter Red Mountain Entertainment. The arena, 1898 Ninth Ave. North, can hold up to 18,000 concertgoers.

Williams’ tour, produced by Live Nation, runs through Sept. 14 and will include shows in Southern cities such as Bossier City, Louisiana (April 20, Brookshire Grocery Arena); Raleigh, North Carolina (May 17, Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek); Bristow, Virginia (May 18, Jiffy Lube Live); and Charlotte, North Carolina (Aug. 9, PNC Music Pavilion).

Williams also is set to perform at two dates of Rock the Country, a series of 2024 festivals announced by Rock the South organizers in partnership with Kid Rock. Hank Jr. is part of the lineup in Gonzalez, Louisiana (April 5-6) and Poplar Bluff, Missouri (June 28-29).

Williams, 74, is music royalty in Alabama, as the son of the legendary Hank Williams. He also has ties to Cullman, living there in the mid-1970s during a pivotal moment of his career. Williams retooled his sound and image during those years, leaving his father’s shadow and emerging with the signature record “Hank Williams Jr. and Friends.”

Williams has performed in Alabama many times, showcasing signature songs that include ‘If the South Woulda Won,’’ “That’s How We Do It in Dixie,” “Family Tradition,” “Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound” and “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight.” He has more than 50 albums to his credit, including a 2022 release, “Rich White Honky Blues.”

Most recently, Williams played two shows here in May, at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and The Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach.

Williams also owns property in Troy, where he hunts and fishes. He made waves on social media earlier this year, announcing his marriage to his fourth wife, Brandi, on Sept. 9 at Enon Baptist Church in Banks, Alabama.
