Hank Williams Jr. pays Mother’s Day tribute to Audrey Williams
Hank Williams Jr. may be known for his rowdy ways, but he kept things simple and sweet for a Mother’s Day tribute he shared with fans.
On Monday, Williams shared a photo of himself holding flowers at his mother’s grave. “After 2 sold out shows in Alabama, I went to Montgomery for a Mother’s Day visit,” he wrote. “All this is possible because of Audrey Williams.”
Audrey Mae Sheppard Williams, who lived from 1923 to 1975, married Hank Williams Sr. in 1944. She was a singer and musician and can be heard on some of her husband’s earliest recordings. Hank Jr., their only child, was born in 1949 and they divorced in 1952.
Hank Williams Jr. performed Friday at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and Saturday at The Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach.
