Hangout Fest offering deals to students at two Alabama colleges

The Hangout Fest might be coming to a college bar near you this week with some special offers – but only two Alabama schools are on the tour, and it might not be the two you’d guess.

“Hangout Goes to College” is a promotional road trip at which festival fans “will have the exclusive opportunity to purchase tickets with no fees and have a chance to win tickets to this year’s festival,” according to festival organizers.

The itinerary:

  • Wednesday, March 1: University of Alabama students will find the Hangout crew at Gallettes, 1021 University Blvd., starting at 8:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, March 2: A stop at Innisfree Irish Pub, 710 29th St. Suite S in Birmingham, begins at 8:30 p.m. for the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
  • Friday, March 3: Hangout Goes to College targets Louisiana State University with a stop at Fred’s in Tigerland, 1184 Bob Pettit Blvd. in Baton Rouge, starting at 8:30 p.m.

According to promotional information, students can check the festival’s social media pages on their designated tour dates “for additional teasers, exclusive events and prizes.” A festival representative said no other stops are currently planned.

The opportunity to buy tickets without fees is nothing to sneeze at: According to the festival’s ticket purchasing site, taxes and fees on a $349 General Admission pass add up to $79.98, not counting a $14 shipping fee.

The festival takes place May 19-21 in Gulf Shores, with a lineup topped by Red Hot Chili Peppers, SZA, Calvin Harris, Paramore and Lil Nas X. For full information visit www.hangoutmusicfest.com.
