Haleyville man dies in crash during police chase

A 35-year-old Haleyville man died early Friday after his truck ran off the road during a police pursuit, state troopers report.

Joshua H. Cosby’s 1999 Toyota Tacoma left the road about about 1:50 a.m. Friday, hit an embankment and overturned, troopers said.

Cosby was fleeing from a Haleyville police officer at the time, said Senior Trooper Cody Farrar in a press release. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash happened about a mile north of Haleyville on Marion County Road 62 near Slaughter Pen Road, according to the release.

Crosby was taken to Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville where he died from his injuries, troopers said.
