Gunfire rang out in west Birmingham Tuesday afternoon, leaving one person dead.

Birmingham police and Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded just after 2:30 p.m. to the Dollar General in the 2300 block of Warrior Road, not far from Five Points West.

They arrived to find the victim dead in a far end of the parking lot. Investigators placed multiple shell casings near the body.

According to police radio communications, a dark vehicle fled the scene.

Multiple friends and family members are on the scene, visibly distraught. One family member is saying repeatedly, ‘’Get up baby, get up.”
