Gunfire in east Birmingham leaves 2 wounded
An investigation is underway after a double shooting Tuesday morning in east Birmingham.
South Precinct officers were dispatched shortly before 11 a.m. to UAB Hospital after two men showed up with gunshot wounds, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
At the same time, East Precinct officers were notified that the city’s gunfire detection system – Shot Spotter – indicated shots fired in the 300 block of 68th Street North. Investigators determined that’s where the two victims were injured.
Officers marked shell casings in the street at that crime scene location.
Fitzgerald said the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
