Gunfire at Tuscaloosa gas station leaves 3 wounded; suspect jailed

Gunfire at a Tuscaloosa gas station Sunday afternoon left three people wounded, and a suspect in custody.

Tuscaloosa police were dispatched at 3:30 p.m. to the Texaco at 5400 East McFarland Boulevard. They arrived to find three males with gunshot wounds, said Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy.

The victims are all in stable condition and expected to survive.

Investigators interviewed witnesses, processed the scene for evidence and quickly identified a suspect. Patrol officers located him a short time later and took him into custody.

Jayshawn Sharmaine Reed, 27, is charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

Kennedy said multiple search warrants are being carried out to recover evidence. A motive has not been disclosed.

Reed will be held without bond in the Tuscaloosa County Jail until further review by a judge.
