Gun found inside vehicle at Opelika High School; student arrested
An Opelika High School student was arrested Wednesday after authorities say he had a gun on school property.
Dezi Yelder, 18, is charged with possession of a firearm in certain places and second-degree possession of marijuana.
Opelika police school resource officers received information about a possible gun being inside a vehicle at the high school on Lafayette Parkway.
Sgt. Jonathon Glover conducted an open-air search with his firearm detection K-9, Gunner, who alerted on a Honda located in the parking lot, police officials said.
Officers then conducted a probable cause search where they found a gun within plain view inside the vehicle.
