Gulf Shores police announce first arrests of 2024 spring break
The Gulf Shores Police Department has made the first arrests of the 2024 spring break season, the department announced on its Facebook page.
Since March 1 (the official start of the spring break season), there have been 47 arrests for underage possession of alcohol, seven arrests for driving under the influence and two arrests on narcotics charges.
In addition, there were two arrests for obstruction of justice and one arrest for resisting arrest, according to the March 8 Facebook post.
The Gulf Shores City Council banned alcohol from the city’s beaches from March 1 until April 28, something it’s been doing since 2016.
In addition to the alcohol ban, the city of Gulf Shores also increased police presence in the city, working with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
Last year, almost 400 people were charged in Gulf Shores during the spring break season. Of those, there were 84 arrests for a minor in possession of alcohol, and 29 arrests for public intoxication, according to Fox 10.
