Gulf Shores asks judge to stop Fort Morgan sewer plant from adding new customers

The city of Gulf Shores has asked a Baldwin County circuit judge to stop Baldwin County Sewer Service from adding new customers that would be served by its Fort Morgan Wastewater Treatment Plant.

“The operation of the Fort Morgan Plant in violation of its [Alabama Department of Environmental Management] permit is unlawful, inherently unsafe, and a menace to public health,” the city’s motion states. “[Baldwin County Sewer Service] lacks the ability to operate the Fort Morgan Plant within its permitted capacity. Even so, [BCSS] continue to add new customers to its overcapacity plant.”
