Grant Enfinger dominates NASCAR truck series race

Grant Enfinger drove away to victory in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Heart of America 200 on Saturday night at Kansas Speedway.

The Fairhope driver won the race by 4.358 seconds over runner-up Corey Heim for his first victory of the 2023 season in GMS Racing’s No. 23 Chevrolet Military Appreciation Silverado.

The race had seven leaders and 15 lead changes. But after rolling off 11th, Enfinger led 65 laps, including the final 32 of the 134-lap race on the 1.5-mile oval after pulling around Heim and Zane Smith in a three-wide pass to the front.

While the race had seven cautions, the final 36 laps were green, allowing Enfinger to pull away to the checkered flag.

Enfinger has eight career victories on NASCAR’s truck series. His Saturday night victory was his first since taking the TSport 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park on July 29.

“We haven’t had a dominant truck like this in a long time,” Enfinger told the Kansas City Star. “We were lights out. We had the best truck out here.

“It’s been a dismal year and a half. I know we came up with a win last year, but overall, we were sluggish. The first seven races this year, we were a little sluggish. I was disappointed in our execution. The biggest thing is these guys just brought me an unbelievable truck.”

Enfinger has completed all but one lap in the truck series’ eight races this season. But before Saturday night, he had led only three.

This is Enfinger’s seventh full season on NASCAR’s truck series. Enfinger won the ARCA Racing Series championship in 2015.
