A 65-year-old Grand Bay man died Thursday when the motorcycle he was riding left the roadway and struck a tree, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said Friday.

The accident occurred on Canaan Road East near Alabama 59, about 12 miles north of Bay Minette in Baldwin County. About 11:40 a.m., Richard M. Hines was driving a 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when the vehicle left the roadway, overturned and struck a tree, ALEA said.

Hines was taken to North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette, where he died of his injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
