Grammy Award winner dead at 45

Multi-time Grammy Award winning musician Shaun Martin has died at the age of 45.

No cause of death was reported.

Variety reports Martin, who had worked with Snarky Puppy, Kirk Franklin and Erykah Badu, suffered a massive stroke in 2023 and had been “under constant medical supervision since.”

Franklin shared a post to his Instagram of he and Martin in the studio, sharing a hug, and wrote, “So unfair,” following his death.

His band, Snarky Puppy, also posted to X about the death on Sunday.

“Yesterday, we lost a music legend, and more importantly, a beautiful, luminous human being,” the post read. “Shaun Martin touched so many people during his life and through the beautiful immortality of his music, will continue to do so. There’s so much that can be said but words can’t do justice. RIP.”
