Girl helicoptered to hospital after being struck by vehicle in north Alabama
A 14-year-old girl was helicoptered to UAB Hospital in Birmingham after she was struck by a vehicle Thursday while trying to cross Highway 31 in north Alabama, authorities said.
The girl was trying to cross the highway at Pryor Street in Athens around 5 p.m. Thursday when she was hit by a southbound vehicle that stayed at the scene, said Athens police Capt. Brett Constable. The driver is cooperating with the investigation, he said.
The teen was taken by helicopter to UAB.
Her condition was not immediately known.
