Georgia’s Kirby Smart already regrets decision he made in Sugar Bowl vs. Notre Dame

Kirby Smart didn’t waste any time regretting a decision he made late in the first half of Georgia’s game against Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday.

“We tried to be aggressive in 2-minute, and probably regret it, right?” the Georgia coach told ESPN at halftime.

With Notre Dame leading 6-3 and 39 seconds left in the first half, Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton fumbled when sacked at the Bulldog 13. Notre Dame’s Junior Und Tuihalamaka recovered the fumble. One play later, Riley Leonard hit Beaux Collins with a 13-yard touchdown pass, and the Irish took a 13-3 halftime lead.

“Go to the half 6-3,” Smart continued. “We want to show confidence in our quarterback, let him go play. We didn’t get the block we needed. They made a good play.”

The offenses have had little success. Georgia had only 94 first-half yards, while Notre Dame managed 118 yards.
