Gator UTV stolen from Jasper High football stadium; police trying to ID suspect who plowed through fence in getaway
Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in the theft of a utility vehicle stolen from the Jasper High School football stadium.
The John Deere TS 4×2 was driven through a locked gate, where it sustained damage that removed the front hood and glove box, said Jasper police spokeswoman Rachel Karr.
The theft took place between Saturday, April 29, between 7:07 p.m. and 7:19 p.m.
The suspect is believed to have been walking in the area of Highland Avenue and Viking Drive before the incident. After the theft, Karr said, the suspect traveled south on Highland Avenue and across Viking Drive.
Based on video evidence and witness reports, it is believed that the suspect may have injuries to the face and arms consistent with colliding into a chain link fence.
The suspect is believed to be a white male in his late 30s to 40s with short hair and a receding hairline. At the time of the theft, he was wearing a blue t-shirt, light khaki shorts and black boots.
The shirt worn by the suspect appears to have white lettering on it, which may be outlined in red.
Anyone with information is asked to call Jasper police Det. Ryan Brewer at 205-221-2121 or Crime Stoppers at (205)254-7777.
