GameDayâs Lee Corso makes 400th headgear pick for Chris Fowler with The Rock as guest picker
Lee Corso made the pick short and sweet Saturday when he made his 400th headgear pick of his career on ESPN’s “College GameDay.”
With The Rock by his side, the former college coach went with the home team and picked Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes to beat Colorado State.
“Colorado is now the talk of the nation, and they deserve it,” he said. “It’s been 26 years since I picked Colorado. This pick is for my friend Chris Fowler (a Colorado alum): Buffaloes.”
The panel made it a clean sweep for Coach Prime’s team.
“I was in the football building yesterday working out,” Desmond Howard said. “I had a chance to talk to the coaches and people in the strength and conditioning staff and ask them about Jay Norell’s comments about coach Prime.
“They just said one thing, ‘Desmond, Saturday night they gonna ‘f’ around and find out. I’m going Buffs.”
“I have Colorado big,” Herbstreit said.
Of course, Pat McAfee and The Rock have a flair for the dramatic.
“Ever since I was a child, I looked up to Deion Sanders,” McAfee said. “I like the greats that know they are great. They work hard to be great. They continue to be great in everything they do. Since Coach Prime has been a coach, he’s done nothing but dominate. … They just happen to be bigger, stronger, faster than everybody else on the field they have been with. This Colorado Buffalo fan base has been yearning for a team like this for so long. Today’s story, which has started so beautifully on GameDay, will end with Colorado Buffaloes railroading Jay Norvell and Colorado State.”
Then, it was The Rock’s turn.
“I think the world is feeling this,” he declared. “There is something really special happening here at Colorado. Something really special that’s happening here in Boulder. And that’s special thing is this: You can feel the electricity. You can feel the electricity. … That’s what Coach Prime is doing to this program. He galvanizes the team. Galvanizing the country. Changing the game of college football. Reminds me of our Miami days of swagger, confidence.
“You got to be a little crazy to disrupt, right? You got to be a little crazy to disrupt. And here’s what happens when you tell anybody, especially someone like Coach Prime, you can’t do something. “
He then rocked a Colorado jersey.
“It’s always personal,” he added.
