A Gadsden man was killed in a Monday-night crash in St. Clair County.

The wreck happened at 6:10 p.m. on St. Clair County Road 22, about five miles south of Ashville, said Senior Trooper Justin O’Neal.

The fatality victim has been identified as Daniel I. Hodges. He was 29.

According to O’Neal, Hodges was driving a 1999 Buick Regal that left the roadway and struck a tree. Hodges was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
