‘Frozen,’ ’Toy Story’ sequels on the way, Disney CEO Bob Iger reveals
Disney CEO Bob Iger announced Wednesday that sequels to Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia are in the works.
“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, ‘Toy Story,’ ‘Frozen’ and ‘Zootopia,’” Iger said, per Deadline. “We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”
The “Toy Story” sequel comes after four movies with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, and, last year’s “Lightyear” spin-off starring Chris Evans.
Meanwhile, there have been two hit “Frozen” films, in 2013 and 2019.
Zootopia, which debuted in 2016, got a Disney+ series of shorts last year.
“Frozen 2″ did $1.45 billion at the box office in 2019), while Pixar’s “Toy Story 4″ amassed $1.07 billion in 2019. Zootopia made $1.02 billion in 2016.
